S M Keen Builders is a family-run building firm based in Tring, Hertfordshire. • When you contact us. If you fill in the enquiry form or email us, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you provide it), the type of work you are interested in and anything you write in your message.
• Automatically. Like most websites, our host records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, in standard server logs. We do not use this to identify you personally.

We do not collect any special category (sensitive) data through this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

How we use it, and our lawful basis

We use the details you send only to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote and carry out any work you ask us to do. Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services and, where you choose to go ahead, taking steps to enter into and perform a contract with you. We do not use your information for marketing, and we never sell it.

Who we share it with

We do not share your information with anyone except the service providers that help us run the website and reply to you:

• Netlify hosts the website and processes enquiry-form submissions on our behalf.
• Google (Gmail) is our email provider, so your enquiry reaches us in our inbox.

These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if we are required to do so by law.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not track you across other websites. The only browser storage used is for our private content-management area, which applies to our own staff logging in, not to visitors.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for our own business records, after which they are deleted. If you become a customer, we keep records for as long as the work requires and to meet our legal and tax obligations.

Keeping it secure

The website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us to: provide a copy of the information we hold about you; correct anything that is wrong; delete it; or restrict or object to how we use it. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below and we will respond within one month.
